J.B. Kaufman is an author and film historian on the staff of the Walt Disney Family Foundation, and has published extensively on topics including Disney animation and American silent film. He is the author of South of the Border with Disney, and coauthor, with Russell Merritt, of Walt in Wonderland: The Silent Films of Walt Disney (winner of the Kraszna-Krausz Award and the Society for Animation Studies’ Norman McLaren-Evelyn Lambart Award, and chosen by The New York Times as a Notable Book of the Year), and Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies. He has also been a regular contributor to the Griffith Project at Le Giornate del Cinema Muto, the distinguished annual silent-film festival in Pordenone, Italy, and speaks frequently on Disney, silent film history, and related topics. The Walt Disney Family Museum was co-founded by Walt’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller, and grandson, Walter Miller. Located in San Francisco, the museum is dedicated to sharing and celebrating the life, work and legacy of Walt Disney through innovative exhibits and programs.

Diese Ausgabe lässt jedes Disney-Fan-Herz höher schlagen. Ich habe den Kauf nicht bereut. Es ist mit viel Liebe gestaltet worden und beinhaltet so viel Hintergundinformationen und Zeichnungen, dass es nicht wichtig ist, ob man jedes Wort der englischen Sprache versteht. Es ist ein Sammlerstück und gehört einfach in die Bibliothek ganz nach vorne, sodass alle es bewundern können.
"The Walt Disney Family Museum" in Kalifornien zeigt von November 2012 bis April 2013 die Ausstellung: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Creation of a Classic". Flankierend dazu erschien nun der gebundene und mit einem Schutzumschlag versehene gleichnamige Katalog, für den J.B. Kaufman als Autor verantwortlich zeichnet, der schon einige Bücher über die Disney-Trickfilme (vor allem aus der Anfangszeit des Studios) geschrieben hat.Die ausgestellten (und im Katalog abgedruckten) Zeichnungen, Gemälde, Film-Stills und Animation Cells stammen unter anderem aus der Walt Disney Animation Research Library, aber auch aus Privatsammlungen, beispielsweise von dem deutschen Disney-Zeichner Andreas Deja (der unter anderem als Lead-Animator Scar und Dschafar Leben eingehaucht hat). Neben einigen Vorworten (unter anderem von Disneys Tochter Diane) gibt es auch eine redaktionelle Beleuchtung der einzelnen Szenen von Schneewittchen, Vergleiche zwischen Skizzen und Vorstudien hin zum fertigen Design, Film- und Fotovorlagen für die Zeichner, Bliestiftvor- und Reinzeichnungen, Hintergründe und Storyboards. Und es gibt zahlreiche farbige Abbildungen. Es ist eine Lust in dem Buch zu blättern. Auch die aus der DVD- und Blu-ray-Veröffentlichunge bekannte (und nie im fertigen Film zu sehende) Suppenszene ist in dem Katalog dokumentiert.Wer sich für Animation generell und mit Disneys Zeichentrickfilmen im Speziellen beschäftigt, kommt um die Anschaffung dieses sicher nicht allzu lange verfügbaren Buches nicht herum. Nachdem die Exponate aus den unterschiedlichsten Quellen und Sammlungen stammen, werde sie so auch nicht so schnell wieder einem größeren Publikum zugänglich gemacht werden.Somit von mir ganz klar fünf von fünf Sternen für dieses äußerst sehenswerte Artbook. Die Bilder wurden hervorragend im Katalog reproduziert, die Banderole auf dem Schutzumschlag mit Goldfarbe veredelt (was auf dem Produktfoto eher senffarben aussieht). Wird der Umschlag entfernt, ist die Illustration von Schneewittchen und der den vergifteten Apfel anreichenden Hexe ohne Typo und Störer zu sehen. Der Katalog wurde in China gedruckt - und ist jeden Cent wert. Kaufen! Ansehen! Schwärmen!
Das Buch ist super, ideale Ergänzung zu - The Making One of All: The Making of Walt Disneys Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs !!!Beide zusammen bestellt.Leider war die Verpackung ( Karton - Päckchen ) zu groß. Beide Bücher lagen ohne Schutz lose drinn - konnten hin und her fallen u. rutschen. Nicht gerade gut bei Papier Umschlag.Schade bei ansonsten super Service von Amozone.Für Disneyfans ideal, zwar auf englisch (ein Original aus Amerika ) mit sehr schönen Zeichnungen.
If you are confused by two books, by the same author, on the same topic, by the same publisher, released on the same day, with similar designs, you will not find much help in the Amazon descriptions. When you compare this book with The Fairest One of All: The Making of Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the differences are not clear since the descriptions spend more time on the film than the book.. In the interests of helping you out I forced myself to buy both. It is actually fairly simple. This book is the catalog from an exhibition held at the Walt Disney Family Museum while the other is a systematic review of the making of the film. The focus of this book is on the art. I am happy to have both.
From the time you hold this in your hands, the delicate-looking, ethereal, translucent quality of the drawing will... haunt you.It's beautiful, with lots of rarely-seen (and I've seen a lot of these, concerning Snow White,) photos and drawings, and for the price you can find it for new, here on Amazon...All I can really say is that if you're reading a review of this, therefore have at least a decently strong inclination to purchase it, do yourself a favor and order it already.A fantastically rewarding purchase, and I haven't even read through all of the text yet.This is a fitting testament to the timelessness and mastery that we all miss from Disney, as a whole.
This book is a beautiful book full of photographs from the movie. The book not only tells the story, but details of how the story evolved with different drawings of what the characters could look like and eventually the ones that they chose. The making of the story is interesting and not in great depth that you cannot understand it. I cannot think of anything that I did not like about the book.
absolutely beautiful book! I bought it as a xmas gift for a friend who loves Snow white, and ended up almost keeping it for myself. Its just so pretty!
I’ve wanted this book for a long time. It’s a full documentation of the first full animated film and all of the artwork done to create it. It’s a great gift for any artist, animator, or fan of Disney.
